Welcome

Not sure who wants to read my thinking but I'm taking the next step in my teaching learning journey.

My name is Joanne and I am not a writer.
I do not write shopping lists.
I do not write in a journal.

but I do:
I keep a food log.
I write daily lesson plans for my 3rd grade class.
I model writing for my class to teach a point.

I have always been envious of other peoples words.  I read my partners comments on report cards and think: wow wish I would have thought of that.  I write quotes in a journal from books I read.  The quotes mean something to me.  Sometimes they are seeds of thinking and possibly writing.

This year I have found myself on an unplanned journey.  I have always wanted to write but find many reasons not to just like my students.  Then I spent a day with Ruth Ayers at the Literacy Connection meeting in Dublin.  She talked about how brave writiers are.  I started reading Celebrating Writers by Ruth Ayers with Christi Overman and I thought some more. At NCTE the message I kept hearing was "Be Brave and write".  Next came the twitter sensation # nerdulation and I signed up with out really thinking about it.  I vowed to write daily (got a new journal yesterday) and blog once a week.

My name is Joanne and I Am a writer. ( atleast for the next 50 days) :)
